The idea was to meet Viščević at his home in Kastav near Rijeka. We wanted to see his coin empire from which he runs his company Monetalis. In a journalist's mind, we imagined a room with hundreds of banknotes and coins hanging on the walls and displayed in glass cases.
Our plan quickly fell through because the 40-year-old numismatist is so busy these days that we had to meet him in Zagreb. He squeezed us in between two client meetings. And our fantasy of a room full of coins turned out to be just that—a fantasy.
As he will explain to us in the conversation, he sold his collector's collection long ago, and now he deals in numismatics primarily as a business, and very few of the banknotes and coins stay in his hands for long.
