The 3rd edition of the most important numismatic catalog for coins and banknotes from the former Yugoslavia is in preparation!
The second edition of the book “Coins and Banknotes of Yugoslavia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Macedonia” was the most comprehensive and detailed numismatic catalog for money from the former Yugoslavia. This edition included all issues of coins and banknotes from 1848 to 2011. The catalog was later supplemented with an addendum covering new issues up to 2015.
The printed book quickly sold out, and for the past 13 years, only a PDF e-book version has been available for purchase.
Since the book was never reprinted after 2011 and remained in its original print run, it has become something of a “rarity” on the numismatic market and, as some say, a collector’s item. Few were willing to part with their copies, and when one did appear for sale, it was quickly snapped up. According to recent information, the market price for such used copies ranged from €150 to €170, with some individuals even willing to pay up to €200. Originally, the book was sold for €40 upon release.
For quite some time now, there has been growing “pressure” from the numismatic community requesting a new edition. Questions keep coming: “When is the new book coming out?”; “Are you working on something?”; “Do you have any printed copies left?”; “I would buy the new edition when it comes out.” and so on. Clearly, there is a demand for numismatic literature, which is a positive sign in every aspect.
Work on the 3rd edition actually began back in 2017 and has progressed at varying intensity. A significant amount of work has been done, bringing the book to about 80% completion, but the remaining 20% has been difficult to find time for. Since working on the book requires focus and dedication, it also necessitates a certain level of isolation from all possible distractions. However, at some point, a decision must be made to just do it—and that moment has now arrived. Everything else is being set aside to ensure the book is published.
Currently, intensive work is underway to complete the 3rd edition of the catalog “Coins and Banknotes of Yugoslavia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Macedonia,” with the goal of having the book finished by the first half of 2025.
