The Order of the Yugoslav Star, 1st Class, was established on February 1, 1954, and was the sixth decoration in the order of importance of decorations of socialist Yugoslavia. After 1961, it was called the Order of the Yugoslav Star with Sash. This decoration is predominantly a diplomatic decoration awarded to foreign statesmen, as well as domestic politicians.
