Gold coin presentation: Yugoslavia 2500 Dinars 1978 Mediterranean Games Split ’79

In today's video, we are presenting a Yugoslav gold coin issued on the occasion of the 8th Mediterranean Games held in Split in 1979, specifically the 2,500 dinar gold coin from 1978. This gold coin is the second largest in the aforementioned commemorative coin series. The obverse of the coin depicts the then-new Poljud football stadium, which was just built for the needs of the mentioned sporting event. The reverse features the image of the then-president of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito.

In the video, a gold coin is removed from its capsule for filming purposes, which will prompt certain numismatic „busybodies“ to lecture. However, nothing happened to the coin itself. It survived and has no fingerprints.

This video was recorded in May 2024 and was produced for documentary and educational purposes.
