In today's video, we are presenting the Croatian commemorative silver coin dedicated to the Trsat Dragon. This is a silver coin with a nominal value of 4 euros, containing 1 ounce of silver. The inspiration for this commemorative issue came from the bronze dragons placed in front of the „Peace of Heroes“ tomb at the Trsat Castle in Rijeka. These dragons were created by the Austrian sculptor Anton Dominik von Fernkorn at the request of the Austrian field marshal, Count Laval Nugent. The dragon motif itself is very unusual for Croatian commemorative coinage, but it has been very well received by a segment of the numismatic audience. Part of the video was even filmed at the Trsat Castle itself.
