This video is part of a series on Dubrovnik currency, where in each video we present one coin of the Republic of Dubrovnik. Today it is a true numismatic rarity - the Dubrovnik silver half-thaler, specifically the Polubradan (Half-Bearded). These silver coins were issued only in 1731 and 1735. They had a face value of half a thaler, which was the equivalent of 30 dinars or dinarići.
In terms of its artistic design, the Polubradan is practically identical to the thaler, the Bradan. The difference compared to the Bradan is in the designation of the nominal value: MED DU ET SE – REIP RHAC (MEDIUS DUCATUS ET SEMIS REIPUBLICAE RHAGUSINAE, i.e., Half a ducat and a half of the Republic of Ragusa).
