New numismatic catalog for Split municipal currency!
Also the first book (numismatic catalog) dedicated exclusively to Split coinage.

1st edition, 2026.
ISBN 978-953-46719-1-7
Authors: Zlatko Viščević and Tomislav Dundović
This is the first book, or rather a numismatic catalog dedicated exclusively to the currency of the city of Split. All previous literature treated Split coinage within broader numismatic works, without an independent and comprehensive treatment. At the same time, this is the most extensive and detailed numismatic catalog of Split municipal money published to date. It brings together all relevant data from existing literature (Luschin, Stockert, Rengjeo, Mimica, Dobrinić, etc.), as well as a series of new information that has not been systematically processed until now. The catalog covers 73 types and a total of 271 coin variants, of which 38 variants are new compared to earlier works, representing an increase in the catalog fund by 13%. Each coin is shown in actual size and enlarged, with detailed descriptions and a tabular display of variants, and special emphasis is placed on identifiers that enable quick and reliable determination of the money. Numismatic values in euros are also shown for each type. The book has a clear and well-organized format, and represents indispensable literature for collectors, researchers, and anyone who deals with or wishes to deal with Split municipal money.
Printed book, 104 pages, color images, Croatian and English texts, numismatic values in euros.

About the book
Following the successfully completed and already sold-out catalog „Slavonian Banovci“, the authors did not stop with their research and publishing work. Even while „Slavonski banovci“ was going to the printers, work began on a new, equally demanding numismatic project.
As with the „Slavonian banovci“, the authors have dedicated themselves seriously to the research of Split coinage, bringing forth in this book a series of novelties that have not been published until now. The book has been produced according to the highest numismatic standards, with an emphasis on the clarity of the material and a detailed presentation of all important elements.
The book covers Split dinars (denari) – parvuli, piccoli, as well as groats, half-dinars, and bagatini. Almost every type of coin is shown in its actual size and in an enlarged format for a better view of the details. The description of the obverse and reverse is followed by a table of legend and symbol variants. Reference catalog numbers from other literature (Dobrinić, Rengjeo, and Stockert) are also provided for the variants.
A particularly important part of the book consists of identifiers, i.e., representations of certain characteristics of money that enable the quick identification of specific types. After 107 years, this has finally simplified and clarified what had previously made collecting Split money difficult for many, especially the dinars with the „E“ mark and the „SPALATIN“.
The catalog also lists numismatic values for different types of money. The numismatic values are in euros for four grades of preservation.
