Coin overview: Japan 100 mon 1835-1870 Tenpo Tsuho

In today's video, we are presenting a particularly interesting coin, which is the Japanese Tenpo Tsuho coin with a nominal value of 100 mon. These unusually shaped bronze coins were produced between 1835 and 1870 and were minted in quantities exceeding 480 million pieces. Interestingly, these coins were not produced by striking, but by casting. Thanks to their unusual shape, relative age (150-180 years), a touch of exoticism (since it is Japan, after all), as well as an affordable price, these coins enjoy considerable popularity among numismatic collectors.
