The 100,000 dinar banknote with the issue date of May 1, 1989, is one of the most recognizable Yugoslav banknotes from the late 80s. Many know it by the name “girl,” although it was also called “červena” (črvena, červenka). At the time it was put into circulation, it was the banknote with the highest nominal value ever issued in Yugoslavia. In this video, we reveal who the girl from the banknote actually is and analyze the mysterious composition on the reverse, which is tied to various controversies.
