Nikola Vudrag is one of the most prominent Croatian sculptors and medal makers of the younger generation. He is a very talented and globally recognized artist who has dedicated a part of his work and skill to what is most important to us numismatists – coins and medals. Today, a small number of people in Europe and the world engage in medal making as a form of artistic expression, and Vudrag is one of them.
In today's video, we have the honor of talking with him about what the coin-making process looks like, from the initial idea all the way to minting; how he became interested in medal making; what inspires him in his work; the influences of old masters on his creativity; coins featuring the Dalmatian dog; ideas he wants to realize in the future; and many other topics.
