Following the introduction of the euro, Croatia also received its first 2-euro commemorative coin. The first Croatian commemorative euro coin is dedicated to the introduction of the euro as the currency in the Republic of Croatia. This coin was put into circulation on September 15, 2023, and immediately met with a barrage of criticism; ranging from the design itself and the occasion for which it was issued, to the method of distribution of the coin.
The whole story was also followed by interesting observations related to the coin's design itself. There is plenty of criticism and dissatisfaction, but it is what it is, we got the first commemorative euro coin that will represent us in Europe and the world, so like it or lump it.
