Numismatic Collection of the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments

Today, the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments holds a significant numismatic collection numbering a total of 3,243 items. The majority of the collection consists of currency, while it also includes two tokens, one Roman medallion, and one Byzantine lead seal. This rich material enables a detailed insight into the inflow and circulation of money on the eastern Adriatic coast, providing significant insights into the history of that area, from ancient times all the way to the modern era.

The collection is constantly being enriched with new items thanks to archaeological research conducted by the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments itself. The collection has the status of a cultural asset according to the decision of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia dated May 24, 2011.
