Following the „wartime“ banknote series of the Democratic Federal Yugoslavia dated 1944, the first „peacetime“ issue dated 1946 followed. In the meantime, the country changed its name to the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia and turned to new social themes: the establishment of the new political order, socialism, labor, and reconstruction. Accordingly, the banknotes of the new series followed that political narrative.
The new 100 dinar banknote, dated May 1, 1946, depicts the heroes of the (new socialist) era: a worker, a peasant, and a fisherman, with its authorship attributed to proven creators from the previous (pre-war and wartime) period. In this video, we bring you a presentation of that banknote.
