The 25 para aluminum coin from 1953 is one of the rarest specialties of Yugoslav numismatics. It is a coin that was intended to be the smallest denomination in the 1953 coin series of the FPR Yugoslavia. However, it was never put into circulation, and the entire emission was melted down.
Before a final design for a coin is adopted or before the minting of circulation coins even begins, the mint produces a small number of specific trial (test) coins. In numismatics, such trial coins are called trial strikes or patterns.
